There’s no time like the present to examine Drake’s unprecedented legacy and impact as we approach his 40th birthday tomorrow on October 24th, 2026. On pace to finish as the most-streamed rapper for a 12th consecutive year, he has maintained an omnipresence in the cultural zeitgeist for longer than our St. George’s grad class has been alive.

This past year, Drake achieved the historic feat of simultaneously holding the #1, #2, and #3 slots on the Billboard 200 with his 2026 album trilogy (Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour). A longtime Drake fan, our very own school captain Willem Urban (‘27) called Iceman “by far the best.”
Much of Drake’s longevity can be attributed to his genre-diverse catalogue. Over the years, he’s explored all manners of music: rap, trap, R&B, dancehall, Afrobeats, house, and UK drill just to name a few. As our school captain put it, “whether it’s [his] party playlist or pregame, there are always at least a few Drake songs in there.”
Whether enjoying his older catalogue or his more polarizing new music, we wish a happy Drake birthday to all who celebrate as he enters his fourth decade.
