Boarders at the Grouse Grind Timer before they started hiking

On September 25th, Mr. Alan Hesketh and Mr. Reto Camenzind led 25 boarders to hike the Grouse Grind which is also known as the “The Peak of Vancouver”. There were local people as well as tourists from other countries joining the Harker Hall team to finish the physically demanding hike. After reaching the top, some boarders had lunch to replenish their energy, while others paid a visit to the grizzly bears residing at the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife.

Here is what Kevin Tang (11), the first person in the team to arrive at the peak, has to say about this hiking experience. “The hike is as physically demanding as you want it to be. You can go up at whatever speed you want. You really have to control your speed and conserve your energy to not overwork. The key to finishing it fast is to push yourself; when everyone else is tired, you keep going.”
