Thanksgiving Decorations

Students who were in Harker Hall over the long weekend celebrated the annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday evening.  The dinner began with a few opening words from the Director of Boarding Mr. Hesketh, who invited everyone to take a moment and “thinking about something [they] were thankful for.”

Alec Choi, a new Grade 11, had a particularly exciting dinner as his birthday coincided with the event, and the gathering sang him a Happy Birthday to celebrate.

Food was prepared by Chef. Taylor and his team, who (selflessly) stayed to cook for the Harker Hall community instead of celebrating Thanksgiving with their families. They prepared dishes ranging from candied yam to the customary turkey. However, the pumpkin pie dessert proved to be the most popular dish, with all four plates cleared within 45 minutes.

Aside from a spilt glass of apple juice (which I was responsible for), the dinner went smoothly, with Captain of Boarding Harry Yuan describing it as “heartwarming” and “positive”.
