Named after the Christian legend and having adopted his spirit, St. George’s School is bound to remember his story. April 21st was a Throwback Thursday to recount the tale of the fearless Roman soldier St. George who slew a fierce dragon and saved the princess from sacrifice. Every year, alumni are invited to speak at the assembly, where the school also honours certain staff members’ long-term service; students will then enjoy chocolate croissants and a barbecue lunch. The day ended with a rugby match against Lord Byng Secondary.

Ms Sandra Gin, who has participated in previous St. George’s Days, expressed her opinions on St. George’s Day. “It allows current students to see some of the vast history of our school and to understand they are a part of this tradition. One day, I hope they will come back as alumni and celebrate.” The celebration symbolises the passing down of the torch, calling our attention to our school spirit.
