World Food Day 2014
On Thursday October 16th, the GPACS environment committee organized a World Food Day event in the Lower Great Hall of the St. Georges Senior school during lunch break. The goal of the event was to increase awareness of the benefits of buying local food and the numerous ways that people can prevent food waste in their everyday lives. There were 6 stations at the event this year. The bees and honey making station and the stations with samples of local foods were the most popular. While enjoying food samples students visiting the booths were given information on how to reduce their personal carbon foot print through their food choices. The GPACS environment committee hopes for increased attendance at the event next year because World Food Day is a great way to learn how to be sustainable with the food you consume.
