HQMania
Everyday at noon all activity at St. Georges stops as students and even some teachers get out their phones to participate in the latest fad. HQ trivia is a game in which everyday at 12pm and 6pm hundreds of thousands of people compete in a live trivia gameshow for a chance to win a share of the prize money. The pot is usually $2500 and it is split between all the winners usually resulting in the winners taking home an average of 10-12 dollars. The highest payout so far has been 6,000 dollars and the lowest has been 28 cents. The average number of people participating in each game is between 600,000 and 1,600,000.
HQ is currently extremely popular but is likely just a fad set to expire like Pokémon go has. The novelty of playing in a live gameshow for money has started to wear off for some people and it likely will for many more in the weeks and months to come. The strict time deadline that exists to join HQ games is sure to be missed by more and more people each day as HQ slips to the back of their mind and is forgotten. HQ also frequently has trouble with their servers causing games to Lag or freeze. Five times already in 2018 the technical issues have been so severe they had to postpone games.
Currently HQ is a huge success that has taken over Saints and way more of the world. Technological issues and a loss of interest from less committed players however will quite possibly lead to the games downfall in the near future.
