The Rigg Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to students who show excellence and leadership in the arts. It is in honour of Phillip Rigg, a St. George’s Student who was passionate about the arts but unfortunately passed away at the young age of sixteen. There are two categories of Rigg Scholars—Current Rigg Scholars and Honourary Rigg Scholars. The Current Riggs are announced in grade 11 and the Honourary Riggs are presented in the student’s 12th grade year. The Rigg assembly is a day to honour the students awarded with the Rigg Scholarship and it takes place during Arts Week. During this assembly, the Current Rigg Scholars put together performances showcasing their artistic talent.

This year’s assembly featured performances from Liam Hughes ’24, Ben Isac ’24, Chris Guo ’24, Owen Huang ’24, Jack Zhang ’24, Jay Huang ’24, Howie Wang ’24, and Richard Wang ’24. Special thanks to Justin Applegarth ’24 for his help with these performances as well. Congratulations to all the Rigg Scholars!
